Are you on Goodreads? You should be! It’s a great community of people who love everything about books. If you ever get annoyed at people endlessly talking about movies and TV shows at the table, you’ll be surprised to see how many on Goodreads have the same conversations about books.
I use it a lot as a reader myself. I’ve found some amazing books and authors there that I never would have heard of. (I’ve also found some incredible stinkers, but that’s part of the fun.)
Here are some of my favorite books that I would never have found without Goodreads:
Part of the fun is the groups, where people share their opinions about the latest book they read. Sometimes hundreds of people are reading the same books at the same time, and you really feel like you’re part of something interesting when you read and take part in the comments. Plus, it’s a great place to meet authors.
Most authors are also avid readers, and you can message or follow your favorite authors. Chances are they might even respond. Even the really famous ones. I’ve made several author friendships there, and some of the readers are even more interesting than the authors.
The site also does some excellent giveaways of new books. I’ve won a book before, and it’s really easy and fun to take part in.
I’m giving away 2 signed copies of The Song of the Sirin at the end of the month. The giveaway went live today, and I encourage all of you to join. It’s a chance to get the paperback book for free even before it goes on sale. If you don’t have an account, it only takes a few seconds to set up.
Once you’ve done that, you can sign up for the giveaway here:
It’s super easy. I wish you luck!
