Your Quarantine Reading List

Well, it’s official. There’s at least another month of lockdown/quarantine/social distancing going on in the US. Rather than lose yourself in the quagmire of “news” (I mean, the models and predictions are changing more quickly than a flip-flopping politician, so why bother?), how about catching up on some reading?

I’m sure many of you have your endless TBR piles, but can I suggest a few additions? Maybe one or two of them will be new to you, or maybe they’ll remind you of a book you’ve always intended to read, but just haven’t gotten to yet (Beowulf, anyone?)

Here’s a video of a slightly sick me being about as enthusiastic as a doorpost. Riveting stuff, I tell you! Below the video, check out direct purchase links to Amazon, in case you’d like to buy them. Oh, and these are affiliate links, which means I’ll get a percentage of every sale. If you’d like to lent a little bit of support to your friendly neighborhood writer, that’s one good way šŸ™‚

And here’s the list:

The Children of Hurin by J. R. R. Tolkien

Laurus by Eugene Vodolazkin

The Farthest Shore by Ursula K. LeGuin

Walking on Water by Madeleine L’Engle

Leave it to Psmith by P. G. Wodehouse (only 99c on Kindle right now)

A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M Miller, Jr.

On Stories by C. S. Lewis

Beowulf

On Writing by Stephen King

Just for fun, here’s a bonus read! Enter your email and I’ll send you a short story of my own. “TheĀ Erestuna”Ā is a comic fantasy short about a hapless seminarian, a possibly predatory mermaid, and a bunch of crazy Cossacks.
